1. Why does the innsbruck nature film festival offer a film market program?

inff is not only a place to provide the best selection of films to a great audience – it is also a meeting point for filmmakers, producers, distributors, scientists and other professionals who share a passion for stories about nature, our environment and the relationship between humans and the natural world.

With our film industry program, we want to create a space for exchange, inspiration, professional development and new collaborations. Workshops, masterclasses, pitching sessions and networking opportunities bring together established professionals and emerging talents and encourage the exchange of knowledge, ideas and perspectives.

Our aim is to strengthen the „nature film“ community, support the next generation of filmmakers and create opportunities for projects and partnerships to grow.

2. Which projects are presented in the pitching session, and how were they selected?

The pitching session presents a selection of carefully chosen film projects that are currently in development or production and that reflect the diversity and relevance of nature and environmental storytelling AND meet the quality criteria of inff.

Projects were selected through an editorial process based on criteria such as the strength and originality of the story, the project’s connection to nature or environmental themes, its cinematic potential, and the stage of development. We also consider the potential for international collaboration and the opportunity for the project to benefit from professional feedback and industry connections.

The selected projects represent different approaches, perspectives and storytelling formats. By bringing these projects together with experienced industry professionals, we aim to create a constructive environment where ideas can be developed further and new connections can emerge – and a potential future inff-award-winner might result 

3. Who can participate in the film market program?

The film market program is aimed at filmmakers and film professionals, including directors, producers, writers, cinematographers, editors, distributors, sales agents and other professionals working in the field of film and documentary.

It is also open to emerging filmmakers, students and early-career professionals who are interested in developing their skills, expanding their network and gaining insights into the international film industry.All industry events are open for accredited industry participants and film industry festival pass holders.

4. What happens during the 1on1 meetings and who should participate?

The 1on1 Meetings give project pitchers the opportunity to receive individual feedback and advice from experienced professionals and experts from the film industry – both on their pitch and on the project itself.The meetings take place in 20-minutes slots, with participants changing partners after each round – similar to speed dating. This format allows everyone to meet and talk to as many different industry professionals as possible within a short period of time.

Who can take part?
The meetings are open to industry experts and professionals who can provide relevant feedback, expertise or a valuable perspective on the projects presented. You do not necessarily need to be a filmmaker – what matters is that you have relevant knowledge or experience that can help a project owner develop their project further.

Our Market Coordinator will organise the matching and schedule the meetings, making sure that project owners are connected with participants whose expertise and experience are relevant to their project.The aim is to create focused, constructive conversations that can help projects move forward. Ideally, the meetings will spark new ideas, reveal different perspectives and open up opportunities for co-production, financing, distribution and marketing strategies. It is also a chance to make valuable personal connections – because sometimes a short conversation is all it takes to open the door to a new collaboration.
