Filmed at 14 Alpine sites, this documentary reflects on vanishing glaciers, tourism, and saying goodbye to ice.
The glaciers of the Eastern Alps are melting –
irreversibly. Yet even as the so-called “eternal
ice” disappears, tourism is thriving. In summer,
cable cars carry crowds eager to witness
what’s left, while human interventions leave
deeper and deeper marks on the alpine
landscape. Filmed at 14 glacier sites across
Austria, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland,
the film weaves together science, personal
perspectives, and one essential question: How
do we say goodbye to our glaciers?
For those who wonder what remains when the
ice is gone.
The screening is followed by a talk with director Harry Putz and Birgit Sattler from the Institute of Ecology at the University of Innsbruck.
