On a sinking Pacific atoll, a mother and son fight rising seas and colonization to preserve culture.
On a remote coral atoll, predicted to be
uninhabitable by 2030, a mother and her grown
son fight to preserve their culture, freedom,
and independence in the face of rising seas
and a history of colonization. Part elegy, part
call to action, the film asks what connections
are essential for life, and how we might restore
them before it’s too late.
For anyone who knows that protecting an
island means protecting the people, stories,
and traditions that shape it.
Both screenings are followed by a talk with director Natalie Zimmermann.
