In Kenya’s Rift Valley, former rivals unite to relocate and protect endangered Rothschild’s giraffes.
In Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, Rothschild’s
giraffes once roamed freely. Then came
drought, conflict and disappearance. Today,
their return marks more than conservation: it’s
a symbol of peace. Led by Pokot and Ilchamus
elders, former rivals now work side by side in
the Ruko Conservancy to protect the giraffes
and heal old wounds. But each relocation is a
race against time – sedated giraffes must be
moved fast, across 140 kilometers of rough
terrain. A powerful story of coexistence and
resilience – for those moved by stories of
wildlife protection.
The screening is followed by a talk with director Therese Annabelle Engels.
