In a shabby motel, two young women clash over sun and sea while the world quietly nears its end.
Under a relentless sun, Charlie longs for
the sea. Instead, she’s stuck guarding a
shabby roadside motel with her cousin Jess,
who barely stirs from her chair. The tension
between them grows as they disagree on
nearly everything, whether to lie stretched out
in the sun or to go down to the sea. News of
an imminent apocalypse blares from the radio,
but the terrifying warnings are met with calm
indifference, as if the end of the world were
merely a distant detail.
This unique watercolour 2-D film is for anyone
who loves slow-burn tension and heatwave
dreams with a hint of apocalypse.
The screening is followed by a talk with director Camille Monnier.
