As part of the “Year of the Isel,” the Iseltrail Photo Challenge was launched in May 2025 — a creative nature and photography project along the Iseltrail in East Tyrol. The trail follows the Isel, one of the last free-flowing glacial rivers in Central Europe, from its source to its mouth. In over 140 submissions, the diverse moods and landscapes of this unique river were captured photographically – from thunderous wildness in the gorges to meditative tranquility in the wide valley floors.
The winning photos of the challenge, selected by voting and a jury of experts, are now also on display in the foyer of the Metropol Cinema to highlight the living coexistence with the Isel.
